Garmin TR-1 Gladiator Autopilot Selection Guide

Garmin's TR-1 Gladiator line of autopilots are among the most capable and most powerful available. Figuring out which system you'll need, however, will require you to pick out a package specific to your boat's steering system and engine. First off, the TR1 Gladiator requires that you have a Hydraulic Helm (Hydraulic Steering). Next:

Do you have an inboard, outboard, or I/O motor (NOT surface drive)?

For Inboard & I/O's with master steering cylinder(s) under 24 cubic inches:

Is the steering system unbalanced?
Yes, it is unbalanced:	No, it is not an unbalanced system:
Cylinder(s) under 10 cubic inches: use TR-1 Gladiator Green Pack PLUS Unbalanced Valve Kit	Cylinder(s) under 10 cubic inches and NOT power steering: use TR-1 Gladiator Green Pack
Cylinder(s) 10-24 cubic inches: use TR-1 Gladiator Yellow Pack PLUS Unbalanced Valve Kit	Cylinder(s) 10-24 cubic inches and NOT power steering: use TR-1 Gladiator Yellow Pack
	Power assisted helm with power steering system, such as a Char-Lynn style system: use TR-1 Gladiator Black Pack

For Outboards that are NOT Mercury Verados, and only ONE motor:

Is the cylinder less than 10 cubic inches?
Yes: use TR-1 Gladiator Green Pack	No: use TR-1 Gladiator Yellow Pack

For Outboards that are NOT Mercury Verados, and TWO or MORE motors:

Is the combined horsepower of motors more than 400 HP?
Yes, motors are more than 400 HP:	No, motors are under 400 HP:
For liquid Tie Bar with a single cylinder under 10 cubic inches: use TR-1 Gladiator Green Pack	For motors with a single cylinder under 10 cubic inches: use TR-1 Gladiator Green Pack
For liquid Tie Bar with larger cylinders, and any other motors over 400 HP: use TR-1 Gladiator Black Pack	For larger cylinders, use TR-1 Gladiator Yellow Pack OR TR-1 Gladiator Black Pack

For Mercury Verado Outboards with only ONE motor:

Use TR-1 Gladiator Verado Red Pack

For Mercury Verado Outboards with TWO or MORE motors:
