Magellan Triton New Product Guide
Looking for a Magellan handheld GPS system? Wondering what happened to the units already out there? Wondering what's coming? Wonder no more. Tiger GPS has answers.
Magellan has finally updated their popular eXplorist units; the result is the new Triton series. The entire line has been improved by making a color screen standard and adding a SiRFstarIII chip for high-sensitivity GPS reception. The base model, the Triton 200, provides basic functionality similar to an eXplorist 200, with a graphic basemap and simple track log and positional features. The Triton 300 has internal memory available available for accessory maps, such as a new topographical set from National Geographic. The Triton 200 and 300 are an earthy maroon color.
The next step up is the Triton 400, which adds an SD card slot for expandable memory. Unlike the Triton 300, which has limited internal space, one may load as much accessory mapping as can fit on an SD memory card into the 400. The top of this line is the Triton 500, which has the SD slot as well as a barometric altimeter and electronic compass. The Triton 400 and 500 are a bright red color, unashamed of their capabilities.
Magellan isn't satisfied with updating only the bottom line, however. The new Triton 1500 is the first of its kind: a touch-screen outdoors GPS! The Triton 1500 and Triton 2000 feature a larger screen than their little brothers and allow the user to input commands with a stylus or finger. Now outdoors navigation can truly be at your fingertips!
If that isn't enough, the Triton 1500 and 2000 also feature an SD slot, MP3 player, integrated speaker and microphone for recording voice notes, and an LED flashlight for safety and convenience. The Triton 2000 adds a barometric altimeter and an electronic compass, as well as a 2 MegaPixel camera, so you'll never forget where you've been.
