Magellan Roadmate 700 FAQs

A: You sure did. The Roadmate made Oprah's "Favorite Things 2004" list!
Q: How long should my unit take to find its first position out of the box?
A: If you are stationary and the unit is connected correctly, you should get your first positioning information within about 5 minutes or less. If your vehicle is moving, it will take a longer period of time - possibly as much as 10 minutes or more depending on environmental conditions.
Q: How often will updates be available?
A: Currently Magellan plans to publish new updates for the maps annually. The next major map update will be for sale from Magellan directly in December 2005. Unit firmware updates will be available whenever changes are identified as necessary for continued proper operation of the unit. The most recent edition of the Roadmate 700 is Version 4.32, which was released in spring 2005. Version 4.32 optimizes the hard drive and adds Windows XP support. Tiger GPS carries only the latest version.
Q: What is the process to have the unit updated with the latest information?

Q: Can the external antenna be placed on the dashboard of the vehicle?
